Sign up for a Monthly Workshop!

IPS offers monthly workshops for interested adult students (ages 21-36) to teach them about woodworking. IPS will hold the workshops twice a week in the mornings (9:30am-12:30pm on Tuesdays/Thursdays or Wednesdays/Fridays).

Safety is the first priority and students will receive classroom and hands-on safety training to ensure tasks are carried out safely. During these introductory woodworking workshops, students will also learn how to use both hand and power tools to complete individual woodworking projects. In addition to building tool-skills, students will learn drawing and measuring techniques to design their own woodworking projects in the future. This workshop is a great opportunity for students who are mechanically inclined to develop their skills and learn to create. Projects will vary each month so students are encouraged to attend each month if they are interested.

IPS Has a New Address!

IPS is thrilled to be a part of the wonderful community of Arlington, Virginia. Thanks to a partnership with Melwood, a fellow nonprofit that serves disabled people, we secured rental space to hold our woodworking programs in August 2023. The 2,500 square feet of space is the perfect venue for our students to learn and create. We invite you to schedule a visit by emailing info@ipstradeschool.org.

IPS Chosen as a 2023 Grantee by the
Community Foundation for Northern Virginia

IPS is the recipient of a 2023 grant by the Community Foundation for Northern Virginia! Our school was among a group of 44 local organizations selected by the Community Foundation, whose mission is focuses on helping support broad-based needs and address complex social issues across the region. Our sincere thanks to the Community Foundation for Northern Virginia for awarding IPS the 2023 Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities grant of $15,000, which will go toward 2023-24 woodworking programs.
