In October 2022, the IPS team held a four-week pilot program to test out our unique curriculum with four students interested in carpentry. Throughout the program, our team and our students become innovators together. The IPS team tested out various teaching methods and our approach to project-based learning, which involved safe tool usage, project planning and working on a team. 

The students provided daily feedback and displayed a great attitude while our team fine-tuned this process. Throughout the day, lessons covered a wide variety of hard and soft skills including workplace safety, the use of PPE and math skills with lessons about workplace readiness, self advocacy and career opportunities within the trades. The program got rave reviews from students, families as well as the IPS team.
