2024/2025 Program

ONLINE APPLICATION WILL OPEN IN EARLY 2024!

In the fall of 2024, IPS will launch a formal 9 1⁄2-month-long program in woodworking. The IPS team will teach woodworking using a nationally recognized training curriculum as well as research-backed social and communication strategies to students through project-based learning.

Applicants will be required to fill out an online application seeking information about their educational and medical needs, current level of skills and interest in woodworking. Selected applicants will be comprehensively assessed by an occupational therapist and trade educator to determine their ability to handle a variety of tools, execute small-scale projects and benefit from the IPS soft skills curriculum. The last stage of the application process will involve an interview with our team. IPS will inform all applicants of admissions decision in the spring.

Accepted students will receive hands-on training in a variety of tools and woodworking skills based upon skills standards set by the Woodwork Career Alliance of North America (WCA). The IPS trade instructor will test students using WCA Skill Standards is a comprehensive, industry-accepted set of observable, measurable skills where students will be assessed on their ability to demonstrate their competency with woodworking skills. Earning these skill standards will enable students to reach their individual career goals of full-time work, part-time employment or self-entrepreneurship.
